AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIPS
Help the PTSA Recognize Outstanding Educators & Volunteers!
Have an Inglewood staff member who you appreciate? Someone who has made a difference? A PTSA volunteer who goes above and beyond? Let’s recognize their dedication and hard work by honoring them with an award!
Each year, Inglewood Middle School PTSA recognizes volunteers and educators who have given outstanding service to our children and school community. We do this through the following awards:
Excalibur Award - Student
This award recognizes an IMS student who provided a unique project or activity involving IMS students and the community.
Stan Chapin Silver Knight Award – Parent or Staff
This award is presented to recognize outstanding leadership of a parent or staff member who has been involved in a special project involving the students, parents and the community and has gone beyond the call of duty. Typically, but not always, this person works “behind the scenes” and has made a significant difference in our teens’ lives.
Golden Acorn Award - Volunteer
This award recognizes a volunteer who has given outstanding service to our children and our school community. The Golden Acorn Award is very special and is given for continued and dedicated service to only one or two recipients a year. Inglewood PTSA contributes $70 in the person’s name to the Washington State PTA Scholarship Program. This program provides grants to freshman students entering post-secondary education.
Silver Shield Award – any community member
This award recognizes the contributions of any parent, staff member, or Inglewood community member for making a significant difference in our teens’ lives. She/he is a role model and provides service beyond the call of duty. Typically, the individual works “behind the scenes.”
Outstanding Educator Award - staff
This award is presented to an outstanding teacher, assistant, custodian, bus driver, administrator or community member who has gone beyond the normal expectations of their jobs to make the learning environment fun, beneficial, and challenging for our students. As part of this award, Inglewood PTSA also contributes $70 in the person’s name to the Washington State PTA Scholarship Program.
Outstanding Advocate Award – any community member
In 2004, the Washington State PTA established the Outstanding Advocate Award, a new statewide volunteer recognition program to recognize and honor individuals for their advocacy work on behalf of children and youth. This award can be given by a PTA unit, council, or region. Recipients receive a certificate and pin and a contribution is made in their name to the WSPTA Scholarship Program.
Receiving an award and being nominated by your peers is a huge testament to a volunteers' contribution to their community.
