What's the program all about? 
We are thrilled to announce the return of the Inglewood PTSA Spelling Bee enrichment program for the 2024-2025 academic year! Once again, our school has enrolled in the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee, offering students in grades 6-8 an exciting opportunity to enhance their spelling skills, expand their vocabulary, and foster a love for language.
 

Who can participate?

All Inglewood students in grades 6-8 are invited to participate in this enriching experience.

What to expect?

The school Spelling Bee opens for registration Dec 10, 2024. Student and, or parent registering their student/students will be able to get the School Spelling Bee Study list upon registration.

The Spelling Bee will be conducted in two parts.

1. Preliminary written round on Wednesday January 22, 2025. Details to be shared via e mail with the registered students
2. The final oral round will be held in person on Wednesday February 5, 2025, where we will crown our School Champion, Runner Up, and Grade Level Champions.

This will provide a comprehensive overview of the Spelling Bee, explaining the format, rules, and expectations.

Volunteers Needed

Like any other successful enrichment program, we rely on dedicated volunteers. If you are interested in contributing your time and expertise, please consider volunteering for the Spelling Bee. Your support will ensure the smooth execution of the program.

How to Register?

• You can register your child/student by following below steps.
• Go to Registration page: Click here 
• Enter registration details and follow the instructions to register.

Note: This registration is to let the Spelling Bee coordinator know that your student will participate, however, there will be another registration needed to take the online spelling bee platform and actual spelling bee contest.  Please participate in the orientation for more information.

Important Dates:

• Registration Opens: 12/10/2024 
• Registration Deadline: 1/15/2025 (please note: no exceptions to the registration end date) 
• Written Round: 1/22/2025 (Online) 
• Oral Round: 02/05/2025 (In person) 

How does my child prepare for success?

To help your child prepare, we will provide word lists and recommended reading materials. Parents are encouraged to support their children by using resources such as the Merriam-Webster dictionary and online tools. Additionally, forming spelling groups among parents can create a supportive environment for students to learn and grow.
