Congratulations to all our talented IMS students who participated in this year’s PTSA Reflections Art Program! Inspired by the theme “I Belong!,” our students shared powerful and creative expressions across Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, and Music Composition. Thank you to every participant for contributing to a meaningful celebration of the arts. Here are the IMS Reflections entries and placements.

 

Reflections is a National PTA arts recognition program that helps students pre-K through grade 12
  • Explore their own thoughts, feelings, and ideas
  • Develop artistic literacy (by describing how their art relates to a theme)
  • Increase confidence
  • Find a love for learning that will help them become more successful not only in school but in life.
Students create original works of art in response to a theme. The theme for 2025 - 2026 is “I Belong!" Students may enter in one or more of the available arts categories:
  • Visual arts
  • Photography
  • Literature
  • Film production
  • Dance choreography
  • Music composition
  • Accessible Arts
Finalists from IMS will move on to Lake Washington Council (District) Reflections, then finalists from councils will advance to the state round. Washington State PTA finalists who receive an “Outstanding Interpretation" award will advance to the National PTA round. 
 
The deadline for turning in artwork for Inglewood's Reflections program is November 3rd at 7 PM. Physical pieces will be collected (as needed) from students after this deadline. 

 

Instructions for entry  

  1. Download rules for chosen category.
  2. Make a piece of art, a photograph, dance choreography, film production, music composition or a piece of literature using this year's theme: I Belong! as your inspiration. 
  3. Have a high quality digital file of your piece for the online submission. If you are submitting in visual arts, you can take a high quality photo of your piece. For music, you will also need to submit your score. 
  4. Submit your entry virtually using Google Forms no later than November 3 at 7 PM.

Have an idea for next year's reflections theme in 2026 - 2027?


PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS THE SUBMISSION FOR THE THEME SEARCH FOR NEXT YEAR, NOT AN ENTRY FOR THIS YEAR'S REFLECTIONS COMPETITION.


Each year, National PTA seeks a theme for the Reflections program year to be held two years from now. The student submitting the winning entry receives $100 and their theme is presented at the annual National PTA Convention. Click here for a list of past themes.


WSPTA holds an annual contest to determine Washington’s entries to the national theme search. The deadline for the 2026 - 2027 WSPTA Reflections Theme Search Contest is Monday, November 4, 2025.

 

Only students that attend a school with an active PTA/PTSA may participate in the theme search contest.
